Positive news from Chase Gouin

He sounds in better spirits, glad to hear that the money raised by the flatland community may be improving his situation.

" To all concerned,

I recently had an appointment in  Toronto with my first and truly great Integrated Medical Doctor. I finally received the full acceptance of my illnesses that I have been searching for. I  had specialized testing done that I had not before and will be doing more tests through that Doctor’s office. I talked to the Doctor for at least 2 hours, going through every relevant detail since the beginning of my illness. He completely understands and has extensive knowledge of my medical conditions and knows how to treat them. He read information to me from a massive medical journal that described my illnesses and symptoms perfectly, to be sure I knew that he really knows what’s going on and that everything is REAL that’s happening to me.

He took me 100% seriously and never tried to blame anything on depression or some other stereotypical source. He re-assured me of the things I was already doing that were right such as the diet and supplements. But most importantly of all he prescribed me two different anti-fungal medications to attack and kill the overgrowth of yeast/fungi that has taken over my intestinal tract, destroyed my immune system, caused the mal absorption and is responsible for all the pain and suffering I have endured for almost 2 years. I will be on one of the medications for 6 weeks and the other possibly as long as six months. This tells me that he knows how incredibly difficult it is to cure. There are still two other very potent and specific supplements that he added to my regiment.

Nothing is certain, but I now have realistic reason to believe that I am on the correct and complete program designed to eradicate this infestation and restore me to total health.  Additionally, I am off the pain killers and can function on a daily basis without much intense agony. I have increased my physical activity to include short but rigorous bursts energy, and improved stamina, without the feeling of impending collapse afterwards. I am by no means in the clear yet. There will be months of strict protocols ahead of me and at best a  slow return to a point where I can honestly say and know that I am cured. In several days i will receive the results of a repeat DNA stool sample analysis, compared to five months ago and hope to see improvement in several areas. My body is giving me signs that these results may be encouraging.

The financial assistance of the Athlete Recovery Fund as well as donations from Riders allowed me to attend that very expensive Doctor’s  appointment, where things  are now looking much more optimistic. Who knows, this could all be false hope, but I am reporting what I feel to be true at this stage, and once again thanking everyone who helped me get this far. The Doctor did tell me that this type of illness is very difficult and stubborn to beat, but to not stray from  the plan and that there is a very good chance I will get my life back.

It’s almost impossible to imagine it, but I hope to once again be riding my bike, practicing at least a few hours per day, about 3-5 days per week…consistently and for as many more years as I can. I hope to share that with the world of Flatland occasionally through videos, and travelling  to experience the purity of practice and progression with others who thrive off that similar indulgence of life affirming beautiful BMX artistic athleticism and emotional highs, that give us what we need while spreading the good news that we can all channel ourselves into something productive and positive, giving true meaning to our lives. Behind and besides all my years of depression, personal problems and recent illnesses, what I described above is what I really have always strived to do.

Sincerely,
Chase Gouin"
